ABOUT le space

Designed in collaboration with Flack Studio and launched in September 2019, Le Space is a multidisciplinary hub for creation, exhibition, research and heightening understanding of artistic and design practice through critical engagement.

Le Space is home to a gallery and a suite of creative studios inhabited by designers, a public photography book archive, photographers and a showroom displaying and selling works by local and international artists.

Through its residents, visitors and exhibition program, Le Space aims to foster cross-disciplinary collaborations by exploring the intersectionality between art, design, commerce and education through community engagement.

Le Space acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we operate: the Wurundjeri people and Elders past and present of the Kulin nations.

studio spaces available

Le Space is a place for creation, research and collaboration. We are currently looking for other creatives to inhabit and add to this dynamic space. There is currently one studio with shared desk space available for rent.

We welcome expressions of interest from potential tenants working across various creative fields. Contact us via: email@le-space.com if you would like to submit or have any questions about the studios available.

le gallery

Representing a cross-section of international and local photographers, Le Gallery nurtures and showcases the work of practitioners who have developed their vision and narrative to complexity and nuance, traversing personal and political terrain. The roster of photographers represented will continue to evolve, engaging in established, mid-career artists with promising and exciting futures to watch.

A year-round program of artists-in-residence is a touchstone in the gallery’s functions as a way to actively cultivate a wider community of creatives, by bringing artists of all media to make work at Le Space. The resident obligations include running workshops and talks that are open to the public and to engage in ideas for community outreach.

Le Gallery at Le Space is also a contemporary gallery for hire, comprising a mixture of formal and informal viewing spaces. The formal gallery space inhabits approx. 25m of usable wall space, and informal spaces include Le Space’s showroom area and working studios.

All spaces are imbued with character in a stark departure from the traditional ‘white wall/ blank canvas’ gallery paradigm.

We welcome expressions of interest via: email@le-space.com.
